1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the LuminaHome application (the "App") developed by the LuminaHome project team (referred to as "we," "us," or "our") and pre-installed on LuminaHome series devices (projectors and similar smart-display hardware).

Draft note: The legal entity name will be inserted here once the commercial selling entity is finalized after legal review.

By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Search queries: When you type in the search screen, queries are forwarded to our servers for relay to third-party content metadata services (see Section 3). Search queries are not linked to a device identifier and are not retained long-term.

2.2 Automatically Collected Device Information (for basic operation)

• Device model, OS version, system language, country/region code
• Network connectivity status (only to determine if online content is available)
• App version

2.3 Crash and Diagnostic Data (to improve stability)

• Crash stack traces, exception logs, and the sequence of non-sensitive actions in the last 30 seconds before a crash
• Does not include your search queries, viewing preferences, or any directly identifiable personal information

2.4 Usage Statistics (to improve product experience)

• App launch count and session duration
• Aggregated feature interaction counts (e.g., "proportion of users who click the Netflix card"), stored in anonymized aggregate form only
• Theme preference (Blue / Dark)

2.5 Information We Do NOT Collect

• Your name, phone number, government ID, or email address
• Your viewing history inside third-party streaming apps (Netflix, Disney+, etc.) — we do not have access to this data
• Location data — we do not request GPS permissions
• Microphone or camera data
• Contacts, SMS, or call logs
• Usage data from other apps (apart from package names needed to render the "Installed Apps" row, which remains on-device and is never uploaded)

3. How We Use and Share Information

3.1 Purposes of Use

• Display movie, TV, and app metadata (posters, ratings, synopses)
• Enable cross-platform search and deep-link navigation
• Diagnose issues, optimize performance, and improve the product

3.2 Third-Party Services

We rely on the following trusted third parties to deliver core functionality. Limited data may be shared on a need-to-know basis:

Except for TMDB, the third parties above are referenced by functional role. The specific vendor identities are available on request from privacy@luminahome.app.
TMDB is named explicitly because its commercial license requires attribution.

3.3 We Do NOT Sell Your Personal Information

We do not sell, rent, monetize through ads, or trade your information with advertisers, data brokers, or any entity not listed above.

4. Data Retention

• Search queries, aggregated statistics: Retained briefly at edge nodes and our logging system for no more than 90 days.
• Crash logs: Retained on the crash-monitoring service for no more than 90 days, after which they are automatically purged.
• Local device data (SharedPreferences, cached metadata): Stored only on your device and can be cleared by factory reset or uninstalling the App.
• Our servers are located in the United States (application layer) and global edge nodes (CDN). Cross-border data transfers comply with EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) where applicable. The exact compliance framework will be confirmed in the final published version.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the following rights:

• Right of Access: Request confirmation of whether we hold your personal information
• Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate information
• Right to Erasure: Request deletion of information about you ("right to be forgotten")
• Right to Restrict Processing
• Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format
• Right to Object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Right to Withdraw Consent at any time for non-essential processing (e.g., analytics)

⚠️ Users in Mainland China enjoy equivalent rights under the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL).

How to exercise: Email privacy@luminahome.app with your device model and approximate usage period. We will respond within 30 calendar days.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is designed for general household use and is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe we have, please contact us for removal.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The App does not use HTTP cookies. On-device SharedPreferences stores only:

• The version and timestamp of your consent to this Policy
• Theme preference (Blue / Dark)
• The last-visited platform tab (for UI personalization; never uploaded)

8. Security Measures

• All communication with our servers uses HTTPS (TLS 1.2+) encryption
• API keys are not embedded in the APK; requests are routed via an edge proxy
• Crash logs are filtered before upload to exclude search queries and similar content

No internet transmission is 100% secure. Please also maintain basic account and device hygiene.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via:

• An in-app prompt that requires renewed consent
• Email (if you have provided one through customer support)

"Material changes" include adding new categories of collected data, adding new third-party recipients, or extending retention periods.
